How to Choose a Mover

One of the most stressful things a person can do is relocate. Deciding which company should move your belongings is an important one. All of Bargain Relo approved vendors have been screened and have provided years of good service to our customers. Following is the criteria we used.

Is the mover licensed in the state of Virginia with DOT? While it is not mandatory to be licensed to perform a local move, a quality mover will have gone through this regulatory process.

Are there several complaints against the mover? Every business gets complaints, some justified, some not. Look for repeated complains about the same problem. Check with the Better Business Bureau to find out how or if the mover resolved these complaints.

Did the mover come recommended or have referrals? Your mover should be able to provide previously satisfied customers and provide information on customer service.

How long has the mover been in business? Have they been in business for more than 5 years? Have they been in the phonebook for several years? A Yellow page ad several years in a row means that a company stable and sincere in their efforts. It also means they have not changed their name to run from a bad record.

Does the mover belong to any associations, especially moving associations? Membership in associations shows that the mover is grounded in the community as well as established in business. Possible associations are Chambers of Commerce, Service Organizations as well as trade associations like Virginia Movers and Warehouseman’s Association and American Moving and Storage Association. Trade associations have high standards and can help you mediate any issues that may arise.
